March 5th-6th - 42nd Annual Bay Area Daffodil Show co-hosted by Alden Lane Nursery, Livermore March 5th 7:00 p.m. - NCDS Annual Membership Dinner, at a Livermore restaurant March 11-13 - ADS Convention and National Show hosted by the Mississippi Daffodil Society at Jackson Mississippi. March 19th- 20th -16th Annual Mother Lode Daffodil Show co-hosted by Ironstone Vineyards, Murphys March 26th & 27th - 36th Annual Daffodil Show hosted by the Fortuna Garden Club, at River Lodge Conference Center, Fortuna March TBD - Daffodil Show at Blue Heron Garden Shop & Gallery, Julian California (San Diego County). Sat 12 to 4 pm, Sun 11 am to 4 pm.

Filoli's "Daffodil Daydreams"
February 25th - 27th Filoli, part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and a designated American Daffodil Society Display Garden, will host "Daffodil Daydreams". Filoli is located in the outskirts of Redwood City. NCDS members will join this celebration by hosting an information table. We will also display our beautiful educational banners.

NCDS Annual Membership Dinner Meeting March 5th 7:00 p.m. Dinner will be at 7pm; come at 6:30pm for social time in the bar. We'll have a separate room for dinner. We will order individually off the regular menu with separate checks. Most of the entrees are in the $12-$20 range. Tax and gratuity will be added. Following dinner will be the Annual Membership Meeting of the NCDS in which its officers will be elected for the next two-year period. Reservations for dinner are not required. For information, call Anna Fine at (925) 447-8211. If possible, please let Anna know by 2pm Saturday that you're coming.
Ironstone Winery, Murphys
You will be awed by the millions of naturalized daffodils growing in the countryside around Ironstone. This is St. Patrick's Day weekend and there will be much to enjoy! On Saturday, the town of Murphys hosts its annual celebration "Irish Days". Show Entry, Judging and Display Schedule: Friday Accommodations:
March 26th - 27th Enjoy wonderful music, coffee, tea, "special" punch, and cookies provided by the Fortuna Garden Club. View the beautiful daffodil arrangements as well as the wide range of show daffodil varieties. Purchase a pot of blooming daffodils to take home. If you plan to enter blooms, here is a link for the 2010 Fortuna Show Schedule which includes the classes and rules for the two sections of the show, Horticulture and Artistic Design. Saturday, October 16th On Saturday from 1:00 to -2:00 pm, at Alden Lane Nursery in Livermore., Melissa Reading will give a talk on "Everything you wanted to know about daffodils, but were afraid to ask" while demonstrating methods of successful container growing of daffodils.
Sunday, October 24th Our last daffodil event of the year is our Fall Potluck Party and Daffodil Bulb Sale. This will be held on Sunday, October 24th, beginning at 11:00 am until 4pm at the Alden Lane Nursery in Livermore. This is a combination raffle and auction with bulbs donated from hybridizers and bulb growers from all over the world. Experts will be available to assist new members with your bulb selections and growing advice. The party format will be the following: a bulb sale with each ticket purchased guaranteed a daffodil bulb; potluck meal following the sale; refreshments, dinner plates, and cutlery furnished by NCDS. There will be kitchen facilities available for heating/reheating as necessary. Hopefully, Jan will bring her famous smoked turkey! Please plan to come - and invite your friends. Keep in mind, by joining NCDS ($10 per household) they are eligible for the bulb sale - easily a value far in excess of that! We thank Jacquie Williams-Courtright for inviting us back again this year. Be sure and put this on your calendar as a 'must attend' for this afternoon full of daffodil bulbs, fun and great food!
