NCDS October Potluck and Bulb-Raffle Party

Have you some time for fun in October? Come meet and join us at our Fall Party!

Our Annual Fall Social will be on Sunday, October 22, from noon until 4 pm. The place? Alden Lane Nursery, 981 Alden Lane in Livermore. What awaits you there? First and foremost, a fine time with plant-loving friends. Second, good food (of course, as a potluck, you make it so). Third, a plethora of daffodil bulbs from which you may select what you want!

The daffodil bulbs to be raffled are donated to NCDS for the raffle by daffodil growers whom we urge you to patronize each year: Cherry Creek Daffodils (Sherwood OR), Grant Mitsch Daffodils (Hubbard OR), Nancy Wilson Miniature and Species Daffodils (Garberville CA), Oakwood Daffodils (Niles MI) and William Welch Tazetta Daffodils (Carmel Valley CA).

These growers send us bulbs of modern garden & show cultivars that they have in surplus at the time of their replanting. Every bulb will be individually sacked with its cultivar name and color description. These are the exquisite show varieties that you see at our daffodil shows.

The little sacks of bulbs will be arranged on the tables for the raffle. Tickets are $2 each and each ticket is guaranteed a bulb. As one of your your ticket numbers is called, you may go to the tables and pick the bulb of your choice. Since there are approximately 500 bulbs on the table and numbers are called quite rapidly, the action is swift and humorous as folks scramble to select their bulbs. We suggest you buy 20-25 tickets so that you can be an active participant - and bring home a good stock of daffodils as well! The money raised goes to the NCDS to fund its activities for the following year.

The potluck meal follows the raffle. NCDS provides cutlery, plates and beverages. You just bring your special dish (enough to serve 6-8) - either entree, salad, vegetable, dessert or whatever.
