ADS National Show and Convention at Murphys, Calif - March 11-14
Newsletter dated September 28, 2008
Welcome to the new Murphys Convention 2010 network.
Daffodil Friends Outside the USA,
The Northern California Daffodil Society will host the American Daffodil Society's Annual Convention and National Show on March 11-14, 2010. The location will be the modern business-convention facilities of the Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys, California. We intend to make the event attractive to daffodil enthusiasts across the world - to serve as a bridge between the World Conventions of 2008 (UK/Holland) and 2012 (New Zealand). Four years seems too long between gatherings of international friends.
Murphys is a picturesque, small town at elevation 2200' in the Sierra - about three and one-half hours driving distance east of San Francisco, or two hours' drive from Sacramento - the closest International Airport. Murphys was founded during the California Gold-Rush era by two Irish brothers, thus its unusual plural name.
We view the Convention to be a "daffodil retreat" where attendees come to share their enthusiasm, to learn more about daffodil history and to peek into the future, and to make and mingle with friends. Convention attendees will be participants, more than just an audience listening to presentations.

Ben Blake has established this "list-server" whereby we can inform potential attendees about aspects of the Convention - accommodations, transportation, program content, registration, etc. We will provide and update information as our planning evolves. As well, by posting your own messages to the list-server address, you can ask questions about the Convention, or search for another person(s) to share accommodations or a rental vehicle, or even for a group to tour the Pacific Coast. We will receive incoming messages, answer and repost them to all on the list-server.
We have assembled a comprehensive list of daffodil enthusiasts living outside the USA. If you have no interest in receiving information about the 2010 Daffodil Convention in Murphys, simply hit "reply" to this message and type "remove me". We'll immediately remove you from the list-server distribution. If you know of people with an interest in attending the Convention, send a message with their names and e-mail addresses. We'll add them if they are not already on the mailing list.
